Assistant Vice President – Legal Operations – Financial Services (9-14 yrs)

We have an urgent job opportunity with one of the world’s largest banking and financial services organizations based out of Bangalore.

Roles and Responsibilities:

– Manage day to day operations and delivery of India based legal operations team

– Engage with senior stakeholders such as General Counsels & Co-General Counsels from various businesses and functions to ensure positive stakeholder experience

– Oversee centralisation activity for the Legal Operations team, including current state assessment, activity migration, remediation, and technology enablers

– Produce accurate and timely management information including regular and on demand key performance indicators /management information reporting

– Identify opportunities for continuous improvements, implement and manage subsequent projects related to technology and process transformation within the function

– Bring in process standardization, improve process efficiency, manage costs & avoid operational losses in the department

– Responsible for teams work load, allocation of tasks, management and delivery of volumes, with a strong focus on quality

– As a people manager coach & counsel the team, identify appropriate training / development needs and encourage creativity

– Ensure day to day team activities are carried out in accordance with the prescribed risk & compliance guidelines

Desired Candidate Profile:

– Academics: Graduate or Post Graduate in Law from a reputed institution

– 9+ years of relevant work experience post qualification

– Prior experience in Legal Operations in the banking / financial services industry is mandatory

– Should have worked on treasury documentation, regulatory & compliance matters

– Knowledge of ISDA, Global Master Repurchase Agreement or Master Repurchase Agreement, Global Master Securities Lending Agreement

– Understanding of drafting/vetting agreements/contracts is essential

– Team management experience is essential

– Prior experience on working with & managing stakeholders across regions is desirable

– Should have worked on Lean or continuous improvement projects in their role

– Strong communication & interpersonal skills

– Awareness of the Operational Risk scenarios associated with the Legal role
